Medical Writer (Cardiology/Pulmonology)
This role will mainly focus in the area of General Medicine (Cardiology)
Looking for different skillsets in relation to Pulmonary/Cardiology
12 Month Contract (PT/Flex)
Remote / w2 only
Exciting opportunity for a Medical Writer (PT/Flexible) for an award-winning, best-in-class, in-house creative agency of a large pharmaceutical organization. This full-service agency produces digital, video, augmented/virtual reality, and print assets and is consistently rated better than both similar in-house agencies and external competitors—overall and with respect to innovation, execution, and client support. (Anticipate 15 hrs/wk. to start but may increase with volume, flexible hours)
MUST HAVE
- PhD, PharmD, NP, or MD preferred (MS considered)
- 5+ years of experience as a Medical Writer in Medical Communications agency supporting Pharma Medical Affairs teams OR direct pharma/biotech exp. supporting Med Affairs
- 2+ years of recent experience as a Medical Writer within the autoimmune space in Pharma
- Agency experience supporting Pharma/Biotech clients OR Direct Pharma/Biotech experience supporting Medical Affairs Teams
- Heavy PowerPoint experience creating MSL slide decks (Cardiology/Pulmonlogy) for MSLs
MEDICAL WRITER
The Medical Writer will focus on supporting our agency’s work across established and pipeline products, as such, 2+ years of recent experience in providing Cardiology/Pulmonology expertise for different areas. The ideal candidate should be a medical writer with a terminal scientific degree who has gained experience from a medical communications agency and delivers exceptional content in live, virtual, and digital settings.
The Medical Writer will be accountable for drafting and reviewing scientifically accurate, original content for medical and promotional clients working within the different business units. The Medical Writer will work with clients and the MCS Scientific Strategy Lead to plan and develop high-impact, innovative medical communications for assigned brands.
Success in this role will be defined by the individual’s ability to develop accurate and relevant medical communication deliverables for medical and promotional clients with limited oversight across all assigned engagements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and reviews different types of deliverables across diverse project types and audiences. Deliverables include slide decks, video scripts, website copy, publications, live and virtual meeting executive summaries, client internal workshops, etc
- Regularly interact with strategy lead to discuss client goals, format, and content of project-related work
- Partner with Account Services and Scientific Strategy to develop and maintain excellent client relationships and foster organic growth. Proactively identify medical opportunities that contribute to strategic and tactical development within assigned accounts
- Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge across relevant therapy areas with emerging expertise in at least one therapy area. We want this person to be viewed as an expert in the field
- Has their finger on the pulse of industry trends and scientific developments, sharing their knowledge with internal teams and clients (where appropriate)
- Is flexible and eager to work across different client accounts, deliverables, and therapy areas.
- Educate agency teams by providing medical downloads on science and clinical content in your area of expertise.
- Review content from a medical/scientific/strategic perspective, contributes to new business pitches
- Apply insights and data to support the development of new ideas
- This individual will be an integral part of building up our agency’s expertise with the goal of growing the volume of work. Upon hire, this individual’s time will account for 25% project work. As the business grows, 75% of this individual’s time will be devoted to project work
SKILLS
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Deep understanding of standard medical communications workstreams (e.g., ad boards, speakers’ bureaus, scientific platform development, post-congress debriefs)
- Experienced relationship builder with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with data reporting (clinical trial, real-world, and preclinical datasets)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience in reading and interpreting prescribing information and clinical studies for a variety of audiences
- Ability to handle multiple timelines and work independently with minimal additional training
- Experience working with clients and a variety of stakeholders
- Strong medical research skills
EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of experience as a medical writer in a pharmaceutical agency setting (medical communications)
- 2+ year of relevant experience as a medical writer within the Cardiology/Pulmonology space in Pharma
- PhD, PharmD, NP, or MD
