Robert Alan Grand, Carolinas Editor at Burnaway, is looking for pitches:
North Carolina/South Carolina writers! I'm the new Carolinas editor for Burnaway, a contemporary art magazine covering the US South and Caribbean. Pitch me! I am looking for reviews of exhibitions in NC/SC or interviews/studio visits with artists closely connected to the Carolinas.
I’m looking for punchy, evocative, and refreshingly honest writing from new and established voices. Detail-heavy and specific, engaging all five senses. Relying less on technical jargon and more on your gut instinct. Happy to share examples or talk through your idea.
Send pitches to: carolinas@burnaway.org 1-2 paragraphs with your idea and its tie to NC/SC. 2-3 samples of previous writing. “Pitch” in the subject. I respond to pitches within 24-48 hours. Burnaway is W.A.G.E. certified and pays contributors $0.30/word.
Deadline: Ongoing! My editor-at-large position is for one year, and I’m continuously looking for timely stories, reviews, and interviews.
