Pitches wanted (Pittsburgh) | $250 to $750 per article
Added 2024-03-01 20:50:47 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: PITTSBURGH CITY PAPER
Colin Williams, News Editor at Pittsburgh City Paper, is looking for pitches:
Some of the things I'm looking for:
- Underrepresented voices
- Timely stories about local politics
- Stories with a YIMBY bent (new trails, etc.)
- Scandals and secrets
- Overlooked sports stuff
- Profiles of local changemakers
I'd also love:
- Work by/about unhoused and incarcerated people from a sympathetic angle
- "Did you know?" stories that point out the hidden everyday here in Pittsburgh
- Stories about gentrification & tech
- Environmentalist watchdogs and whistleblowers
On a more personal level, I want to read:
- Stories about extreme music (punk, metal)
- Pittsburgh's sleazy underbelly and lost history
- Stories of Black history and community
- Anything about Negro League baseball
For stories we accept, our base rate is higher ($250), and we can offer more than that for features. I can't answer everyone who reaches out, but it doesn't hurt to get in touch!
We accept anything interesting, timely and Pittsburgh-related on a rolling basis.
