News Reporter wanted (national security, US-China news) | up to $300 per article

COMPANY/PUBLICATION: THE EPOCH TIMES

The Epoch Times is seeking freelance reporters to cover national security topics focusing on U.S.-China. The publication’s U.S.-China news section is a flagship feature, at the forefront of covering the Chinese regime’s global ambitions, and the latest issues affecting China-U.S. competition.

The ideal candidate would develop feature articles and pitch shorter-length pieces pegged to the latest happenings in the news cycle.

DUTIES: 

• Find and pitch stories on important issues relating to U.S.-China aimed at a national audience, ordinary Americans and China-watchers alike.

• Conduct interviews with experts and sources.

• Adhere to the Journalism Code of Ethics and The Epoch Times reporting guidelines.

SKILLS: 

• Excellent research skills.

• Clear and concise writing, strong narrative skills.

• A proven ability to tell complicated stories in a thorough yet readable way.

COMPENSATION:

– At least five years of journalism experience.

The pay range per article (800+ words) is between $75 and $300 depending on the nature of the articles. The quoted pay range per article represents our good faith estimate as to what our candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range according to the selected candidate’s experience, location, technical skills, and other factors.
