Writers/pitches wanted (critical issues, politics, culture, etc.) | ~$480 per article
Added 2024-06-05 21:07:19 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: THE PLANK
Samarth Bansal, Founder of The Plank, is looking for writers/pitches:
I have a list of story ideas to commission and I want to match them with kickass reporters—those who know how to get information out from anywhere. Who can get inside a world, find sources, documents, data, and whatever else it takes to tell a fair and accurate story.
At The Plank, the magazine I announced earlier this month, we are most interested in questions-led journalism—where the story is discovered in the process of reporting. This requires curious, tenacious, open-minded reporters who can stay on a story for a while to pull off a great magazine piece.
If this sounds like you, and you work freelance, and you have the bandwidth to take on a (slightly ambitious) reporting project, then please get in touch. I am at samarthbansal@pm.me.
Send me the investigative feature you are most proud of. Your work is the filter. (We pay Rs 40k flat fee per story.)
Putting out this open call to find talented reporters beyond my immediate network. I've done this kind of work, and I'll guide you through the process of reporting and writing. (It'll be fun and rewarding.)
PS: List of ideas includes investigations on food safety and regulation, revisionist history/anatomy of a scam(s), home buyers and RERA, and a wide multi-lens exploration of environmental issues.
And of course, feel free to pitch your own ideas as well!
