Ali Saeed, Editor in Chief of Jellybones Magazine, is looking for writers:
Jellybones Magazine is relaunching our worker-owned publication at the intersection of music and anti-capitalism and is looking for ambitious essays that explore a musical topic about which you’re passionate within a higher lens of critical/theoretical/historical analysis. We also appreciate entertaining/humorous/unconventional essays that nevertheless reveal something profound about their topic. Read our manifesto at jellybones.net/about. 10 cents/word. Email ali@jellybones.net with samples of your best writing, doesn't have to be music related. If no samples exist, then I'll request a full outline of the proposed essay if a topic interests me.

TO HELP YOU CRAFT YOUR PITCH:
Learn more about the publication: Jellybones is a music publication that seeks to deliver longform essays and interviews with tomorrow’s most influential artists from all around the world. Unlike other outlets operating inside of or agnostic toward the institutions that shape art, Jellybones is defined in opposition to the institutions – record labels, corporate media, awards committees, social media, celebrity, the market. It is a platform for writers to investigate critically the relationship between these structures, pop music, and society. More information here.
Read through a selection of recent articles/stories on its website.
Review the submission guidelines here. Note that these are the publication's general guidelines to help you refine your pitch. You must still follow the editor's specific instructions above.
Check out our collection of pitch excerpts on this page and find more sample pitches at The Open Notebook and at SuccessfulPitches.com.
Do not forget to end your pitch with (1) a short introduction about yourself; (2) a few lines highlighting your writing experience, relevant credentials and publication credits; and (3) links to your strongest work or portfolio, and online profile.
