WRITER REQUIREMENTS

57° Magazine is currently seeking polished writers with literary voices for quarterly freelance assignments. We are interested in writers who can tell a story in a succinct yet engaging way. Writers should possess a passion for language and the ability to meet publication deadlines. Applicants are encouraged to visit www.65mag.com, read a couple of issues, and get a feel for the publication's style and voice before applying.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficiency in Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) is mandatory.

• Experience writing literary journalism. (65° publishes storytelling narratives as opposed to inverted pyramid narratives).

• Strong understanding of grammar, punctuation, and writing mechanics.

• Experience writing the following: culinary, wine, hospitality, events, community, design, art, and business profiles.

• Adherence to deadlines is a must!

• WRITERS MUST LIVE IN Napa Valley or Sonoma County and be familiar with the areas they wish to write about.

• Willingness to conduct interviews in person.

PAY

$.20-.30 per word. (The average hourly pay depends upon the time it takes to complete assignments. Our writers report an average of 3-6 hours per assignment).
