Friends: We've updated the pitching guidelines for Atlas Obscura and Gastro Obscura, and built out extensive notes on what's worked for us, what we're interested in, and more to set freelancers up for success. We publish a lot — features, columns, food stories, recipes, profiles, etc. — but all of it should be deeply rooted in a sense of place and strengthen our position as the definitive guide to all of the unique, extraordinary, and surprising wonders of the world.
If you have ideas for a bigger package of content beyond single stories or features that you think is uniquely Atlas Obscura-y, you can email me directly. Now's a good time since I'm thinking about some big tentpole projects we might want to schedule other work around.
