We’re excited to announce that we’ve expanded our directory to include our very own publication to empower struggling writers, amplify underrepresented voices, and build credibility by paying writers ourselves.
We’re looking for real stories from working writers, particularly personal essays between 500-800 words that are brilliantly written and shed light on the world of writing for a living. (It can be anything related to your experience as a working writer.)
We’re accepting pitches on an ongoing basis and all stories are paid a flat rate of $200.

“What does the ideal pitch look like?”
It should include a potential headline, story premise, and detailed clarification on the angle; no completed drafts.
“How many pitches can I submit?”
You can submit as many as you’d like. Pitching more than one idea? We suggest putting them in one email.
“Can I pitch something that’s already been published elsewhere?”
No, pitches should be fresh ideas as we don’t pay for previously published work.
“Who owns the rights to my work upon being published?”
We ask for no exclusive rights to any story. You retain all of the rights to your work and are properly credited with a byline upon publishing along with your tip jar details so our readers can support you directly.
“I don’t live in the states. Can I still pitch something?”
Yes, this opportunity is open to writers residing in any part of the world.
“When can I expect to hear back?”
If your pitch is selected, you’ll hear back from our commissioning team within a week.
“When and how will I be paid?”
We will never publish a story without paying our contributors first. All contributors are paid prior to publishing through their preferred payment method. We use Apple Pay, PayPal, and Venmo.
