Submissions wanted (cops, childhood, TV shows) | 10 cents per word

COMPANY/PUBLICATION: CURSED MORSELS

Deadline: 31 August 2024 

Last year, I ran a call for our first zine bundle (which you can buy now), and this year, I’m putting together another. This next zine bundle will be sold on the Cursed Morsels website and at live tabling events. I will also include free copies in paperback orders placed through the Cursed Morsels store.

I’m looking for submissions on four different themes (see details at the bottom of this page). Writers may submit ONE submission per theme; in other words, they may submit one to issue #6, one to issue #7, one to issue #8, and one to issue #9.

500 words maximum for each piece. No exceptions.

For accepted pieces, I’ll pay 10 cents USD per word and send five physical contributor copies. I’m asking for worldwide publication, print, and electronic rights with no exclusivity period. Publication will be in October 2024.

Send your submission(s) to cursedmorsels [at] gmail [dot] com with each piece in a separate .doc/.docx file, labeled by issue (e.g., Submission Title – Issue #6). Don’t worry about a cover letter.

Issue #6: All Cops Are B_____ (fill in the blank) (microfiction, poetry, and nonfiction)

Issue #7: My Morbid Childhood (creative nonfiction about people’s experiences as morbid children)

Issue #8: Tech Bro Terrors (microfiction and poetry)

Issue #9: Reviews of Reality TV Shows That Don’t Exist

Note: this bundle will include a special issue #10 that is not open for submissions.
