I certainly have felt something is crazy wrong about my experiences in the dating market. I partly attributed that to the city I’m in, but I’m sure that’s just one of the contributing factors. The woman’s “be yourself” advice is well-intentioned but wrong, I think. The right answer is “Yes, he should put some work into increasing his social confidence and then evaluate whether he is making progress, what difference it is making, and how he feels about it.”
