JOB DESCRIPTION
The Epoch Times is seeking an experienced Business Reporter to create insightful and original business content for our website, TheEpochTimes.com and print publication. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business journalism, a keen eye for newsworthy stories, and the ability to produce exclusive reporting from a wide variety of sources.
As a Business Reporter at The Epoch Times, you will be expected to cover a broad range of business topics, from corporate developments (significant events, decisions, and changes) and market trends to entrepreneurship and economic policies
As a freelancer with The Epoch Times, you’ll enjoy the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to a respected publication with a growing readership. This role offers opportunities for professional growth, exposure to a broad audience, and the chance to produce impactful, high-visibility business stories.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce original business news articles and features for TheEpochTimes.com.
Develop and maintain a network of sources within the business community, including executives, analysts, and industry experts.
Provide timely coverage of major business events, earnings reports, and market-moving news.
Expect 2-3 articles of 800+ words per week.
Conduct interviews with business leaders, entrepreneurs, and economic experts.
Collaborate with editors to develop story ideas and ensure content meets The Epoch Times' standards and values.
Stay abreast of the latest developments in the business world and bring fresh, relevant story ideas to the table.
Identify and report on business stories that align with The Epoch Times' mission of promoting truth, tradition, and hope.
Adapt to evolving digital storytelling formats and engage with readers across various platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 3-5 years of experience in business journalism.
Strong writing and reporting skills, with a proven ability to produce compelling business stories.
Demonstrated ability to break news and develop exclusive content.
Proficiency in analyzing financial statements and economic data.
Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure in a fast-paced news environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as a freelancer.
Understanding of how business and economic issues intersect with cultural and traditional values.
