Brent Jans, Editor in Chief of The Hearth Magazine, is looking for pitches:
Grateful for so many folks pitching articles to the magazine. If I'm honest, my biggest fear was that I would launch this and creators in the space would go "meh." Instead, so many of you have shared your ideas with me and it's lovely to see, I've started going through pitches and chef's kiss.
One thing I will mention, because I've received a few emails like this: please don't tell me what you can write about, tell me what you want to write about.
A few emails gave me a list of different article types the writer felt they could deliver on. And while it's good to know where your strengths lie and I will file that information away against the day I'm in a position to hire staff writers, that isn't what I want from you. I want the one or two article, game, or supplement ideas that bubble around in your head and you can't get rid of until you write them into the world. Because if an idea excites you enough that you have to write about it, odds are great that folks out here want to read it. And don't worry that your idea is too niche, or that maybe it's for a game few people are playing. Niche is what The Hearth Magazine lives for!
Pitch me something for Hannukah Goblins. Tell me about your "Hallmark Christmas Movie" hack for Monsterhearts 2. Talk to me about house LARPs. Honestly, the only person stopping you at this point is you, because "niche" is not a disqualification.
