Well it depends on the woman and her age, but a young, fertile, high quality woman will have a high threshold for attractiveness. If you aren’t attractive, have an average physique, and over 30, you’re not attracting a young, hot 20 year old. Good genetics come first. There’s really nothing you can do to make up for it. Trust me, I know MANY women my age and none of them have been with me for my pErSoNaLiTy. It was purely based on my physical appearance and demeanor/aura/energy.

Good genes come first, your physical attractiveness is #1

Good point. Also this is really the most optimistic interpretation we can draw from it : that the halo effect is about them caring for personality and that by displaying good qualities in interacting with them, you can outpass your bad looks (despite saying that a minimum threshold of attractiveness is required no matter what, and what is it anyway ? Is it high already or relatively low ?).
It would have been nice to link the study for further understanding.

I wonder if, in this study, "personality" is a conglomerate of other things. Assuming, again, that women are most interested in securing good genes and resources for their children, then the personality of the guy should actually be pretty low on importance. Is the halo effect really about him having a good personality, or about him being more likely to have a higher social status and thus more access to resources? If he's a terrible person, but other people like him and treat him well, he has a better chance of having the resources needed to raise children than a really nice guy with low social status.
