Interesting. This happens also at a professional level. I used to like the band Chvrches, which is lead by a very vocal feminist girl. She often complains about the lack of females in music and called out music festivals for not having enough female bands.
This striked me so I analysed how consistent she was in her feminism. I was expecting a feminist singer would hire female producers, female mixers, female instrument players and so on... I went into a website called AllMusic and compiled all the professionals Chvrches has ever worked with in their albums. I found out there were no women. All the protool guys, mixers, producers and DJs were male. Women working for Chvrches worked in more "feminine" areas such as graphics, make up, etc. And they were very few. Does it make any sense a woman expects music festivals to have a 50/50 lineup when she leads herself a band with a huge gender imbalance?
I guess the only thing that bothers Chvrches is not to see females in stage being the center of attention, like her. They don't care the "secondary" positions behind the curtain are all filled by men.
