OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a highly skilled legal brief writer with deep expertise and experience in complex civil litigation, including privacy law and wage and hour law, to draft clear, persuasive, and legally sound motions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience drafting briefs in state and federal courts involving privacy statutes such as the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), wage and hour statutes including California Labor Code and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and other complex and class action litigation.
This contract/freelance position offers the opportunity to work remotely while collaborating with a legal team to produce high-quality, well-researched legal briefs on a variety of issues. The role requires a professional who excels in simplifying complex legal issues, ensuring accuracy, and presenting compelling arguments in complex litigation matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research, draft, and revise briefs (motions, oppositions, replies), and other legal documents with a focus on privacy law, wage and hour law, and other complex litigation in state and federal courts.
Collaborate with the legal team to ensure clarity, accuracy, and legal precision in all drafts.
Analyze and synthesize complex legal issues across multiple practice areas, including privacy, wage and hour law, and high-stakes litigation.
Maintain effective communication with the team to refine and finalize drafts, ensuring all related deadlines are met.
Ensure compliance with legal citation and sourcing practices throughout all written work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Proven experience with state and federal wage and hour litigation, including FLSA claims, overtime claims, misclassification claims, privacy claims, and class action litigation.
In-depth understanding of privacy law and digital data protection and their application in the context of litigation.
Demonstrated expertise in complex litigation, including multi-party cases, class actions, and high-profile legal disputes.
Strong legal research and analytical skills with the ability to distill complicated legal theories into clear and actionable arguments.
