Are you a food- or cooking-obsessed freelance writer looking for work? Or does this sound like someone you know? If so, read (and share) on!
This year, I'm starting a new chapter with BuzzFeed, Inc. as Head of Tasty Editorial. As thrilled as I am to help guide this new endeavor for the brand, I’m even MORE excited about finding new talent to collaborate with.
I’m looking for freelance food writers to contribute evergreen and timely stories on home cooking and trending food & dining moments — all with an approachable, down-to-earth POV. At Tasty, we meet home cooks and food enthusiasts where they are, so my mission is to produce content that appeals to the food-loving masses…regardless of how much experience they have or what their checking account balance looks like. Note: Recipes won’t be my main focus in this role, but I’m certainly open to receiving your recipe pitches alongside more standard editorial posts. More ideas for what I’m looking for below, but feel free to surprise me, too.
Ideally, I’m seeking repeat contributors to write articles on a regular basis, which will be a mix of pitches and assignments. But one-off pitches work, too!

Starter ideas, just to give you a tiny idea of what I’m looking for:
Testing and/or weighing in on that one viral food trend that keeps popping up everywhere online
A list of your go-to, cheap grocery staples as a [first-time parent? pro cook? insert identity here!] — and how you turn them into simple meals or snacks
Deep dives on buzzy food and dining happenings, from reservation cancellation fees to reviewing that long line-inducing new viral treat in your city
An explainer on your favorite cooking tip or trick that not nearly enough people know about
Food and dining-focused personals — especially identity- or culture-based stories
