Pitches wanted (Trump, climate) | ~$1,100 per article
Added 2025-02-06 17:34:31 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: THE BREAK DOWN
Deadline: 14 February 2025
We are launching twice-yearly issues of The Break Down, which will comprise most of what we publish going forward. If you have an idea for a piece that doesn’t align with the theme of the current issue, we will consider how it might fit into future issues or as a stand-alone essay.
We prefer short pitches to unsolicited submissions. Our style is in-depth and deeply researched, but approachable rather than academic. The best guide to what we might like is to look at what we publish.
SUBMITTING PITCHES FOR ISSUE I
We are taking pitches and submissions for our first themed issue, which will explore what Trump’s second term and the new right mean for the climate. We are open to diverse and unconventional approaches to this subject, so if you have an idea you think might work, we’d love to read it.
Please include a short description of the piece you wish to write, roughly a paragraph in length, along with brief information about yourself and why your piece would work for The Break Down.
For essays accepted to Issue I, we offer a flat fee of £900.
The deadline for pitches for Issue I is February 14. We aim to reply to all pitches within seven days.
Submissions should be sent to pitching@break-down.org
