John Shepperd is looking for pitches for Current:
I curate a series for Current, the journal of public media. We're calling for new pieces. Anything connected to public media programming. We pay. Your research reaches the entire sector.
Especially at this moment, when noncommercial voices are under attack, research on NPR, PBS, public, community, and educational media is especially prescient.
FROM THE GUIDELINES:
Rewind, our series about the history of public media, specializes in essays illuminating people, institutions and milestones in public broadcasting history that still resonate today. Many of our Rewind pieces are derived from research and writing projects undertaken by scholars in media history. Submit ideas, excerpts and completed drafts to our series editor.
CONFIDENTIAL NOTE: Reports indicate that Current pays up to 75 cents per word. It is recommended that you discuss the rate(s) with the editor upon the acceptance of your pitch.

It features scholars of media history examining both familiar and lesser-known chapters in public broadcasting's evolution. The series aims to provide in-depth analyses and insights into the development of public media.
Read through a selection of recent Rewind stories/articles on its website.
