ABOUT THE ROLE

Family Handyman is a trusted resource for DIY enthusiasts, offering a wide range of print and digital content. We provide homeowners with expert buying advice, creative project ideas, and detailed how-to instructions to enhance their homes, yards, and vehicles.

We are seeking experienced contract writers with broad knowledge and interest in the DIY home improvement space to write trending/quick-turn trend stories.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Write timely, trending content: Write (and sometimes pitch) quick-turn articles on DIY topics

• Research and interview: Source insights from industry professionals and trusted sources to ensure content is accurate, authoritative, and informative

• Meet tight deadlines: Produce clean, polished content within a 24-hour turnaround time

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Home improvement knowledge: Broad knowledge of DIY topics, including cars, home security, weather preparedness, tools, hacks, home decor and more

• Strong research and communication skills: Ability and eagerness to identify credible sources, conduct interviews, and break down complex information into reader-friendly copy while ensuring our content is authoritative and reliable

• Efficient: Ability to produce high-quality work quickly and consistently

• Audience-focused: A commitment to delivering content that’s practical, helpful, and engaging for DIY enthusiasts

COMPENSATION

• Starting at $200 per article

• Compensation increases based on word count, demonstrated ability to meet our standards, and special projects
