CALL FOR STORY PITCHES: REFRAMING NARRATIVES ON SRHR AND GENDER JUSTICE IN AFRICA

Story tellers of Africa!

We know YOU have powerful stories to share and Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) wants to hear it and amplify it! As part of our mission to uplift the voice and power of African women, girls, and gender-expansive persons, we’re looking for stories around issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, politics, civic space, economic justice and climate justice. Stories that explore the interlinkages and the interconnectedness of these issues through an African feminist lens will be prioritized. We are looking to the untold, invisible, emerging, forgotten or deliberately suppressed stories. We are looking for stories that will educate, inspire and invoke change.

Through this call, we’re offering 10-15 storytellers grants (between $500 - $2,000) to bring their vision to life. Whether it's a article, podcast, video, short film, photo series, or poetry—if it’s impactful and pushes the boundaries of what we know about the interlinkages between SRHR and gender justice, we want it!

This is your chance to flip the script and reshape how the world understand gender justice issues in the selected African countries. We’re collecting bold African stories that challenge harmful narratives and bring forth the voices and lived experiences of women and girls and marginalized communities.
