Lynn Freehill-Maye, Managing Editor of Hudson Valley Viewfinder, is looking for pitches:
Hudson Valley Viewfinder is a collaborative digital magazine dedicated to showcasing the beauty of Hudson Valley communities and nature. It publishes original stories and multimedia content focused on sustainability in the 10-county region along the Hudson River. Covering a range of topics—from the latest scientific research to first-person accounts of sustainable living, photo-driven essays, and discussions on climate change—the magazine explores agriculture, science, wildlife, outdoor recreation, green transportation, and environmental justice.
Published by Scenic Hudson, a nonprofit organization recognized for its role in launching the modern grassroots environmental movement in 1963, Hudson Valley Viewfinder seeks contributions across six main topic areas: Climate Solutions, Land + Air + Water, Plants + Animals, History + Culture, Outdoors, and Community.
THE MAGAZINE WELCOMES SUBMISSIONS FROM:
Journalists & Writers – Particularly those with deep knowledge of New York and the Hudson Valley. Writers are encouraged to introduce themselves via email, including writing samples and relevant pitches.
Photographers & Videographers – Contributors with a focus on nature and outdoor content are invited to share portfolios or footage highlighting their best and most relevant work.
Illustrators – The magazine commissions artwork regularly and invites artists to submit their work for consideration.
Social Media Influencers – Opportunities for collaboration on series and campaigns are available. Influencers can reach out with background information and ideas.
The publication offers $500 for pieces ranging from 500 to 700 words. Pitches, along with an introduction and samples of work, can be sent to editorial@scenichudson.org.
