I used to play games a lot. Grew up in the late 80s early 90s so Nintendo, Sega, computers etc. were all very popular and fun to play. I played a lot of console games in my teens and early 20's as well as World of Warcraft and League of Legends. I played with friends and it also helped us stay connected over the years. At first my wife would always say how she liked that I had something to do that I enjoyed and was ok with it. But after we married and had kids she started to berate me about it. Called me a child and would always have negative things to say about it. Even though I would normally only play at night when everyone else was asleep. My wife also has Borderline Personality Disorder which is an entirely different story. That all being said I completely quit gaming and watching TV. I poured self care into my life, gym every day, prayer, meditation, nutrition etc. That was the single greatest thing I've ever done. Not quitting the games or TV, but that did give me an enormous amount of extra time to do these new things. I have slowly started watching a little TV and rarely a game of League every once in a while and I don't really see any issues with that. Looking back I was playing excessively, was staying up late, waking up late and tired in the mornings. Everything in moderation. My main focus in my life is gym and nutrition at this point and TV or gaming is just something I do on occasion. Do I miss it sometimes? Yes, but seeing results from taking care of your mind and body is much more rewarding. We only have one life on this world and I certainly don't think I will look back and think about all the days, weeks, months and years and think "damn, I wish I had played a lot more video games."

I honestly don't care if my partner spends 8 hours a day on video games, I am introverted and like my alone time (I work with very loud and violent clients so maybe that is why) and as long as I am with a partner who would be happy to do anything else I suggested or suggested their own ideas to go outside then I think it is fine. I know a lady I worked with who had a partner who was addicted to games and she would have to come in to his room and clean it because it was so dirty and he would refuse to go on holidays or dates because he just wanted to get back home to play his games. They were in there late 50s and divorced now
