Pitches wanted (rural/small-town America) | $200 to $500 per article

COMPANY/PUBLICATION: BARN RAISER

Barn Raiser is looking for new writers to pitch us on topics that affect people in rural and small town America. Your ideas can be sent to editorial@barnraisingmedia.com. While we are open to pitches on any topic, right now we are particularly interested in reported pieces on the following:

• Pesticides and corporate accountability, including but not limited to anti-trust action or litigation against companies like Bayer/Monsanto 

• Sewage sludge 

• PFAS 

• Pipelines and campaigns in resistance to pipelines

• Local organizers doing transformative work in their community 

• Authoritarian threats in local communities 

• Censorship or suppression of free speech in public education and libraries

Rates: $500 for reported stories, $200 for opinion (typical length 1000-1200 words). Q+As or book reviews in between.
