George Osborn, Creator of Video Games Industry Memo, is looking for writers:

Paid writing gig alert: I’m hiring two freelancers to support Video Games Industry Memo this summer and I’d love for you to apply.

Each writer will be responsible for:

• Writing five editions of Video Games Industry Memo between June and August this year.

• Ensuring each edition fits house style and our areas of coverage focus.

• Uploading content into the VGIM backend and formatting in line with the usual template.

While the opportunity is open to all writers, I’m prioritising people who have a proven track record of producing tight copy to a deadline, knowledge of games and - even more importantly - an appreciation of where they fit into the policy, commercial and cultural landscape.

Each freelancer will be paid £1500 for chipping in, a rate of £300 per newsletter. There may be further opportunities in the future too.

If you’d like to apply, send a short email explaining why you think you should sit in the VGIM hot seat with links to your work to george at videogamesindustrymemo dot com by Friday 28th March.

The two selected writers will be informed whether they’ve got the gig by the end of April, before being inducted and introduced to the VGIM audience ahead of June.

QUICK UPDATE FOLLOWING A FEW QUESTIONS:

Is this role still open given the fact loads of people have applied? Yes! I'm deliberately leaving it until the end of March because I want to give people the chance to apply, so you're golden if you haven't got an application in yet.

Do I have to be in the UK for it? No, you don't. The only stipulation is that I can only pay you in pounds for Boring Business Reasons. But as long as we can bridge that gap, we're golden.

Do I have to contact you about it via your email? Yes! I am but slowly counts digits on hand one man. If it's not in my inbox, I'm not gonna count it (soz).

Do I really need to find you a picture of Spiderman? No, but you'll be surprised by how many applicants have so far.
