Pitches wanted (autism) | ~$190 per article
Added 2025-04-09 19:45:44 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: UNFURL
UNFURL is a new publication for autistic writers to talk about their special interests and hyperfixations! We’re currently seeking pitches for paid publication.
WHAT WE ARE
UNFURL will be a publication for writers on the autism spectrum to share work about their special interests and hyperfixations. We want to create a space where autistic writers don’t have to write about having autism, but can have a space to talk about the deep passions and interests that may struggle to be published elsewhere.
WHO WE ARE
UNFURL is run by Kat Benedict (they/them) and Marsh Ana (they/them), two autistic writers and facilitators both based in the UK.
WHO CAN APPLY
This call is open to anyone on the autism spectrum. You do not need a medical diagnosis.
New and unpublished writers are especially encouraged to apply and you do not need any previous writing experience to apply.
FURTHER DETAILS
We are primarily seeking non-fiction writing, but may accept fiction in some cases.
We are not interested in poetry at this time.
Published work will be between 1000 and 3000 words.
We will be assessing submissions based on how a writer talks about them and not their subject matter. If you think your special interest is too strange it probably isn’t!
Writers will be paid £150 on publication. We aim to make this rate higher in the future as we publish future issues but are currently running the project on zero budget.
