Added 2025-04-18 16:25:50 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: AEON
Alizeh Kohari, Life Stories Editor at Aeon, is looking for pitches:
Alizeh Kohari is seeking short memoir pieces (up to 1,800 words) that explore a turning point in a person’s life — an inner or outer change and its aftermath. The concept of change is interpreted broadly and may be big or small, profound or absurd, self-initiated or externally imposed, but should be presented through a clear and engaging narrative frame.
The publication welcomes a range of writing styles and is especially interested in pieces that feel surprising, whether through unusual circumstances or striking insights. The ideal submission should carry a sense of mystery, possibility, and revelation.
Writers with a compelling idea or an existing draft they’d like to adapt are encouraged to get in touch. The standard rate is $550. While the fee is modest, all accepted pieces are edited and developed with great care and attention. Submissions and queries can be sent to alizeh.kohari@aeon.co.
