Pitches wanted (magical disobedience) | ~$150-$200 per piece

WizardPunk 2 Zine by Sandy Pug Games will be a magical disobedience themed collection of stories, games, art, and whatever else can be printed on a digest sized booklet. Similar to our previous zine endeavors, we cast a rather wide net in terms of contentforms, so if you have a wacky idea for what kind of content you want to submit, assume we want to hear about it.

As of this writing I'm very amenable to 18+ work in this zine so long as the nsfw aspects never overshadow the "wizard" or "punk" components therein, but rather enhance them. We'll determine that on a case-by-case basis based on your pitch.

A Word on Content While SPG is a kink-shame free zone, for the purposes of marketability we will be staying away from more extreme content or content deemed too out-there for our audience. I attempted to write up a list of things we'd disallow, but prescriptivist thinking felt bad, so these will be judged on a case by case basis by myself, and anyone who gets their submission rejected will have a chance to revise it or submit a new one. Contributions can be existing works or new ones.

Remuneration will be in the form of shares. Sandy Pug Games will handle the print and distribution, as well as the project management and organization of the project, and you will be paid a percent of every sale in line with your labor; essentially, you write one story, you get one share. Given the exact value of your share will vary with contributors and market forces, its hard to give an exact amount you'll be paid for this project, but our previous zine paid out around $150-200 per contributor, iirc.

Payment will be handled via paypal. If this creates an unreasonable barrier to you getting paid, please contact me, we'll figure something out.

Pitch Selection will be finalized on Monday May 12th, 2025. I'm hoping we can fit ten to twelve works in this thing. Maybe a few more than that? WizardPunk volumes are zine shaped but if I could afford to print all the wizard punk stories we had in us I would. It would be a library. It would stretch for miles.

First Drafts will be due on June 12th, 2025 with printing to occur sometime in August/September. Maybe an October release? That's a great wizard month, October.

Your Wordcount is whatever you can fit into 6 5.5x8.5 spreads. In pure wordcount you can fit around 500 words per page at this format, so extrapolate out from there. If you need more spreads, it can be arranged, but every spread adds cost to the print run, so be ready to justify it.
