John Maher is open to pitches for industry news, trend pieces, and reported features covering a wide range of topics related to publishing. Areas of interest include book publishing, comics and graphic novels, manga/manhwa/manhua, audiobooks, bookselling, libraries, copyright law, generative AI, and large language models.
He’s particularly keen on stories that explore the intersection of technology and the book industry, as well as pieces focused on genre trends in sci-fi, fantasy, romance, and horror. Pitches from BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ writers are especially encouraged.
The rate is $0.50 per word for print; web rates vary. Send pitches to jmaher@publishersweekly.com.
