Deadline: 18 July 2025
Tatiana Tenreyro, Editor in Chief of Antics, is looking for pitches:
We just opened pitches for ANTICS issue 4! We have some interviews already in the works and are mostly seeking essay pitches. Think what you would pitch Mel Mag (RIP) if it had a music section. That's what we want. give us your boldest pitches. We get an overload of interview pitches and have already assigned some. Any emails that just say "I want to interview [artist/band] will be ignored. Send us your best pitch! You'll also have better chances of getting your pitch accepted if it's anything but an interview. Also, ANTICS is made for a Gen Z readership. Please keep that in mind while pitching. Another note: every artist listed on our pitch list is someone we've already been in touch with. Please do not email artists' teams on our behalf before getting a pitch approved.
CALL FOR PITCHES - SUMMER ISSUE
We're back and officially accepting pitches for issue 4 of ANTICS, out in August.
For this issue, we're looking for:
Interviews with emerging artists. We receive lots of pitches on established indie artists, but we'd love more pitches on hip-hop, reggaetón, avant-garde, electronic, metal, and Latin acts who haven't broken into the mainstream yet. This time, we'd prefer Q&As over profiles, as we've had an overload of profile pitches in the past and Q&As are very fun to read!
Essays on music trends and explorations of subgenres that don't often get the spotlight.
Personal essays with interesting angles intertwined with music. We absolutely welcome political essays connected to music.
NYC nightlife coverage: what's going on? What's phasing out? What should be on our radar?
Thorough music "hot takes," written with a sense of humor.
Capsule reviews (300-400 words). Note: since this issue will come out in August, we're looking for reviews on albums coming out around that time, so only pitch us August-September albums.
We are prioritizing essays and reviews for this issue, so please keep that in mind while pitching!
As for new releases, we welcome pitches on any artist but are particularly looking for some on the following artists/bands:
Folk Bitch Trio
Asher White
Winter
Indigo De Souza
Frost Children
Magdalene
Pinkshift
Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band
Pool Kids
Teethe
Anamanaguchi
DJ Haram
Hannah Jadagu
The Beaches
Wombo
The deadline for pitches is June 23 and the deadline for drafts is July 18. If this is your first time pitching ANTICS, please make sure to read our pitch guide beforehand. Send pitches to pitches@anticsmag.com
Due to budget constraints, some of our rates this time around have changed:
Reviews - $50
Q&As - $150
Essays - $150
Profiles - $200
Longform reported features/oral histories - $250
If you have a pitch for an interview with someone who is not mentioned above, feel free to pitch it to us either way. We're publishing a limited number of pieces for each issue, so don't feel discouraged if we can't use your pitch this time around; we'd still like to work with you!
