The Epoch Times is seeking skilled freelance reporters to cover the fast-evolving relationship between the United States and communist China. Our China coverage is a flagship section of the publication, known for in-depth reporting on the communist regime’s politics, social issues, and global expansions. With the U.S. -China relationship being the primary focus, successful candidates will have proven experience in reporting U.S. national security, foreign policy, and other areas related to China.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We’re looking for journalists who can pitch timely, relevant story ideas and deliver compelling, well-researched news articles that keep pace with today’s national security developments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proactively identify and pitch story ideas on critical U.S.–China issues for a national audience, including everyday Americans and dedicated China watchers.
Write timely, accurate, and engaging news articles, including both quick summaries and deeper analytical pieces.
Conduct interviews with experts, analysts, and other relevant sources to enhance reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 3 years of journalism experience, with a focus on U.S.-China relations, national security, geopolitical affairs, or related beats.
Strong reporting, research, and storytelling abilities.
Familiarity with Chinese military developments, South China Sea tensions, or Indo-Pacific strategy is a strong plus.
Proficient in AP Style and experienced in working in fast-paced newsrooms.
PAY RATE:
$150-$300 per article (800 words), with rates tailored based on experience, expertise, and the complexity of the assignment. While this is a freelance position, our contributors have the opportunity for consistent assignments and the chance to cover some of the most pressing China-related issues for a wide audience.
