Sam Mintz, Founding Editor of Brookline News, is looking for pitches:
As a former freelancer now in the privileged position of being an editor with a freelance budget (pitch me Brookline stories!), one thing I keep thinking about is how important it is for those trying to build a journalism career to go after opportunities and not wait for them to come to you.
Motivation, persistence and creativity absolutely do come through and stand out. No matter how much all of us wish opportunities were based on pure merit, there is a luck and timing factor, but you can make lots of your own luck by following up and putting yourself forward as much as possible.
We take any journalistic pitches related to Brookline, MA, the more unique, interesting, creative, unusual the better. Pay starts at $250 per article, and can be increased for stories that require more in-depth reporting.
Pitches can be sent to smintz@brookline.news
