IndigiNews is always accepting freelance pitches from journalists, creative writers, photographers, and community members (especially Indigenous voices) who have stories that uplift Indigenous experiences, hold colonial institutions to account, and center Indigenous people in narrative. They’re interested in news, feature stories, investigations, arts coverage, op-eds, and photo essays. Stories typically run 500 to 2,000 words, and pitches should be 300–500 words describing the who, what, where, when, why, how of the story, plus any visual plans. Rates are negotiated when a story is accepted; freelancers are usually paid between $250 and $750, depending on length, imagery, depth, and complexity.
