Pitches wanted (North Carolina) | $1,000+ per article
Added 2025-09-25 19:52:08 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: THE ASSEMBLY
The Assembly NC is always looking for pitches from freelance reporters and photographers around the state, especially longform stories with narrative and nuance though they also accept shorter pieces that break news or offer unique insight. Their ideal pitches explore power—who has it, how they use it, how they got it, and why it matters—across politics, business, culture, science, courts, environment, and institutions. While most stories are centered in North Carolina, they welcome contributions from writers outside the state if the story remains firmly rooted in place. Pitches should include specifics (characters, length, timing) and links to your work. The Assembly starts pay at a base rate of $1,000, with final compensation based on reporting difficulty, duration, experience, story length, and exclusivity.
