With Southlands Issue No. 01 getting set to ship next week, itβs time to start thinking about the next issue!
Southlands is now accepting pitches for its upcoming issue, seeking stories that explore the intersection of place, people, and the natural world through thoughtful, well-researched writing. Writers are invited to pitch reported features, essays, profiles, interviews, and creative nonfiction that delve into themes of regional identity, ecology, agriculture, and the evolving connections between rural and urban life. Strong pitches combine vivid storytelling with grounded observation and a clear sense of place. Articles typically range from 800 to 2,000 words, with payment varying based on length, depth, and experience. Pitches should clearly outline the storyβs focus, significance, and approach, along with a short bio and links to previous work.
