Bon Appétit is always looking for pitches that go beyond standard food stories and explore how what we eat reflects the way we live — food culture, identity, economics, social issues, and more. They welcome reported features, trend analyses, culture pieces, profiles, and essays that bring fresh perspective and strong voice. Pitches should be concise and should include a proposed headline, explanation of the story’s relevance and timeliness, a sense of the reporting you’ll do, and your writing clips. Their standard rates begin at $250 for shorter stories (around 400 words) and rise based on word count, complexity, and reporting.
