So, now we learn the truth - Fine is the one who summoned the noise that killed Kanade's parents, all so she could get her hands on the Shénshòujìng relic for FIS. I feel sorry for Maria. She killed all those soldiers, but at least it was in self defense (and in defense of civilians). We had a bit of a foreshadowing of this when she mentioned a few episodes back that any attack from the Gungnir would kill a regular person. To answer your questions at the end, we don't know a whole lot about how Fine's reincarnation works, but based on what was said when everyone thought it was Maria, it seems like it might be a gradual thing. The barrier that saved Shirabe seems to have just been the first sign. What you said about Frontier is spot on. It's something sealed away underwater that is supposedly critical to their plan to stop the Moon from falling. As for the plan for speaking with the US, they were trading their knowledge of heretical technology in exchange for the US help in carrying out their plan to stop the Moon from falling. Oh, and as for the question you had during Maria's transformation, their clothes are disintegrated by the Converter (the red crystal surrounding the relic fragment) in the pendents and is reconstituted by it when the transformation is undone. The New mic sounds great. Don't worry too much about the two screens issue, it's not super distracting, and a minor re-positioning of the camera would probably fix it anyways.
