Stuff that I am doing - 11/03/18

So I just finished my next He Who Moans video about Doctor who series 11 news. I've been meaning to do another random nu-who opinion piece for a while & now you can go watch it here:

I'm probably gonna release this one on Monday. I've been having second thoughts on the Crocodile video and I'd kinda like to go rewatch it and reevaluate my thoughts on it. This is the problem I'm finding with my Black Mirror reviews, the episodes are a lot more freely intepretable (is that a word? I swear its a word but spellchecker's telling me it isn't) than Doctor Who which are very open and shut and a bit more pulpy than Black Mirror. That and in the past when I've misjudged something and my opinion's changed in the interim, I end up with bitter feelings towards a video in hindsight, so I'm probably gonna rewatch, revisit and leave my Black Mirror videos alone for a bit cause I don't wanna be flippant and I wanna get them right.

In the meantime, I've recorded the audio for the ITV2 TV dissection which contains a fair few jokes I'm happy with. After I've finished that and my April Fool's dr who video, I'm probably gonna take a bit of a break for a large chunk of April. I'll still try and get all my Patreon stuff done of course, but I was thinking I probably should take a short break, least of all to ensure a more long term stretch of quality and effort, as I've kinda felt stressed out about a lotta personal life things lately. That and I've had something stupid like 5 story rejections in the last week alone and I'm expecting another any day now. I really want an agent to do all this submission stuff for me, it'd make things so much easier. Either that or I should stop submitting 5 or 6 stories to various publications in one go so I can space out the potential rejections so they don't all come at once and knock my confidence. I think if I somehow manage to notch up like 3 or 4 publications on my own, I'll be in a better position to start approaching agents. I've got 2 stories in anthologies (watch this space for the second), if I get just one more anthology and/or a literary magazine publication somewhere, then I should be good.

I also think I've finally settled on a table of contents for Broken Systems, with most of the stories at least in full draft form except the two that I've marked. Decided to leave it at 13 stories in the end, don't want it to be overlong. Its probably gonna be a pretty short book all told, about 200 pages, but that feels like a good length for it. It says what I want it to say and does what I want it to do, and I think it'll feel complete when I've got these last two down:

So yeah, its actually starting to look like a book now, rather than just a sorta vague collection of notes and half-formed ideas which is exciting.

I'm also unsure if I'm gonna include this other idea I had: There's this old factory that's currently undergoing demolition that I walk past on my commute every morning and I had this daydream about a girl who wakes up inside the building, she's been kidnapped and held to ransom, and her family have until the building's demolished in the morning to come up with the funds and she tries to escape the building while its being demolished and its collapsing around her. Yeah! Look at me come up with trite ideas for Liam Neeson movies! I can do normal too!! Its not all pretentious wank about crying over dead printers!!

Anyway that's your update for the time being, I'll probably end up finishing and Early Accessing the ITV2 TV dissection in next week's blog, then do another Let's Watch shit TV the week after as I've been really enjoying those...well, enjoying making them, the tv shows themselves are quite shit obviously, part of the point....wow that Survival of the Fittest show was fucking garbage.
