As a DSAer I do take issue with the claim that "DSA has completely failed". Not just cuz I'm inclined to defend it as a member, but because I know my chapter is doing better, more effective work than it was even during Bernie. Our labor work is more mature. It's happening in fits and spirts across the country in different chapters but much of the active part of DSA has come to an understanding that we need to focus on r&f organizing wherever possible. I can say from my gut that Teamster and UAW leadership would not have changed, and thus the possibility of bigger, more militant, more public strikes, without the efforts of DSAers embedded into the ranks of those reform caucuses. Electorally, I have to admit it feels like a shit show. I have my opinions on the matter, but I am not entirely confident about my answers. At the end of the day I just don't think there's enough organized workers, let alone militant leaders within them, to sustain an insurgent left wing within American politics, whatever shape that takes (a caucus within the Democrats, an entirely separate labor party on the ballot line, or even just a mass org like DSA). Idk the way to fix that other than "focus on good labor work and hope the electoral situation follows"

spitting at the end with the bit about “fighting for ourselves.” Moten says something similar: “The coalition emerges out of your recognition that it's fucked up for you, in the same way that it's fucked up for us. I don't need your help. I just need you to recognize that this shit is killing you, too, however much more softly, you stupid motherfucker, you know?”

I thought this discussion really improved in the last hour, as you moved from the mystifying particulars of inflation and currency moves to a more clear-cut analysis of the hard limits to capitalist world development. I do disagree with your last note on riots though, at least in the sense that the insurrectionary approach is generally richer than 'just riots'. Being agnostic towards them is fine, but we all know where an active disdain of rioting leads. Just look at Zizek's latest drivel.
