2024-02-03 17:53:55 +0000 UTCFor me it felt really strange that Justin Roiland was on a very recent (at the time) episode of the Kinda Funny Podcast and that the "don't be an asshole" callout that came shortly after felt too distant. This was someone that was specifically invited and celebrated front and center, only then to be revealed to scummy. Make no mistake, I truly believe that Kinda Funny does not stand for his actions, that was never a concern. It just felt like Kinda Funny wanted to quietly distance themselves from a messy situation without owning up to JUST having him be featured content (again, at the time). Edit: What I would have expected from that specific situation was as the news came out about Justin to take a minute to acknowledge that you just had him on your platform and either directly apologize for that or say something along the lines of "man, we JUST had him here, and then it turns out he's an asshole, sucks man."

2024-02-03 16:51:16 +0000 UTCThanks, Blake. This is totally in line with what I meant. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.

2024-02-03 02:17:40 +0000 UTCAnd sorry, to clarify didn’t expect a tweet. More of acknowledging the news when discussing the rumble on podcasts. It felt like the allegations were glossed over and only the event was discussed in a positive light on KF podcast.

2024-02-03 02:13:30 +0000 UTCThank you, Greg, for taking my question. Really appreciate it. You are absolutely correct that I don’t expect (nor do we need/deserve) you to call out every asshole. That’s not your job. And you guys certainly report on news on KFGD and other places. With the non-WWE examples, Justin Roiland was the most jarring example I could think of because he was on the the KF Podcast like the week before the news broke. It felt weird to hear you all talk about it on KFGD and say don’t be an asshole, but never acknowledging that he had been on KF content the week or two before or the personal angle. Admittedly, I don’t expect anything major, but it felt like the connection wasn’t acknowledged. For WWE, it frustrated me hearing everyone talk about the rumble and the Wrestlemania show and saying nothing but glowing things about WWE, but never acknowledging the Vince stuff. I realize time of recording factors into the Wrestlemania show, but KF Podcast was recorded on Monday (I think) and only the good was celebrated. I’m truly happy for you to have the opportunities you do and that you all enjoyed the rumble, but it felt kind of gross to only talk about WWE in a positive light after reading the lawsuit. To me, it would be like celebrating the great games of 2023 without acknowledging the horrible layoffs. Not a perfect comparison, but the closest one I can think of and one I’ve heard the KF crew use on several occasions.

2024-02-03 02:09:11 +0000 UTCAlso wanted to not that saying "I don't think of vince when I think of wwe" could be read as obfuscation, but I think it perfectly encapsulates the feeling that the company and the business of wrestling has left people like him and his outdated mindset in the past. We can separate wwe from him because he isn't, and hasn't been for a long time, what we love about wrestling.

2024-02-03 01:29:09 +0000 UTCHey Greg, I really appreciate this video. Mostly for the candor but also because I found KF through Max Landis so many years ago (worth noting those were the only episodes I watched until becoming a fan during TLOU2 release). I had a pretty hard time when allegations hit Max mostly for one reason that I think is missed in this video: He denied the allegations. Personally, I had a fairly consistent internet “friendship” with Max and his denial made me question if I should believe them or not. Ultimately, I went with my gut and listened to the victims and it made me re-examine my relationships with online people I don’t know. Obviously, this doesn’t extend to every situation but I bring up the denial point because I think that’s why some people want you to be definitive and say something. In a case, where allegations are leveraged and the accused denies it, it often a feels like “pick a side” to a lot of people. Personally, I’ve never seen you or anyone at KF do anything other than listen to victims so when things happen and you guys don’t say anything- I assume you’re doing what you’ve always done. BUT just wanted to add a bit of of clarity on why some people want you to say something.

2024-02-03 01:07:40 +0000 UTCI wouldn't expect anyone from KF to say anything about Vince McMahon, aside from Greg - and only because of his tangential connection to WWE. I know that's just my take. But even then, like you said, this case is SO egregious, it's Kinda Obvious (legitimate spinoff idea). Vince is already gone. There's now a federal investigation. No one is on the other side of the issue.

2024-02-03 00:42:22 +0000 UTCFrom when I read that question I didn't hear it as "hear are things you didn't address too" it was more noting that you are not afraid to publicly denounce people that you've in some way had relationships to. In terms of "what should we say?" I think your right in saying you don't need to announce virtue and all that, but I do think that WWE and your rumble experience was a topic on the podcast, not even a mention to the lawsuit the company is in, just hits weird. Idk 🤷♂️ but thanks for being candid

2024-02-03 00:10:42 +0000 UTCThank you for the honesty when it comes to this matter. As a kinda funny fan, I’ve heard.you denouncement of Justin , Vince , and Max. I think you addressed issues like this , once addressed you move on from them , focusing on life’s positives, giving us good entertainment. For those who are maybe new to KF or miss episodes, maybe an episode of the podcast just addressing this matter couldn’t hurt. I’ve watched since the Kevin smith episode, I listen mostly to that , I love games , but I am invested with the podcast, with in review, so I could see how someone didn’t see you address the Justin issue. Now I’m rambling lol, I know you’ll find the right way to address it, thanks again for the episode.
