New Comic -- Because Twilight Sparkle Asked

Hi there! I hope you all liked last month's comic, because here's a new one for you $5+ patrons to see 24 hours before anyone else!

This one is more in line with my previous comics, digital art rather than traditional -- and it's the most ambitious one, artistically speaking. It's also the longest one, and it's taken a while to finish, so I hope you like it.

The title is "Because Twilight Sparkle Asked", and this entire paragraph is the link.

Thank you for your patronage! And remember: tomorrow you'll see the public version of this blog too, so don't fret when you see a new notification.

See ya!

In a way! When I plan the dialogue -- usually either I come up with it as I'm drawing the comic to bridge between the Big Moments or Big Jokes I've thought up before getting to it, or they're the Big Moments themselves -- I tend to sorta like, tell it to myself to see if I make myself laugh. But even when I don't, truth is, writing everything freehand and then placing it and doing the speech bubbles so they're read in the right order means that I have to fiddle and re-read the same lines time and time again. Which means they're edited to hell and back! Naturalistic dialogue is very important in comics, I feel, especially when you're this verbose. Since one of my favorite jokes is to have the characters be a little more pedantic than in canon, having the dialogue around it be very flowy is super important. Glad all the effort paid off! (Seriously tho writing it all freehand and placing it and rewriting bits that look off and then obsessing over it for minutes is the main reason. I spend such an embarrassing amount of time writing these, you wouldn't believe).

I'm curious: do you read your dialogue out loud whilst writing it? Because it is about THE most effortlessly readable dialogue I've ever seen. It makes me want to voice act it o_O

"It's either messianic purity or genocidal tendencies. Zero middle ground." *looks from Twilight to Sunset* Yeah, sounds about right.
