September 2018 Patch #5

Hey everyone! The past month I've been very busy reimplementing features that were dropped in the transition between Animal Crossing and Animal Forest e+. You may have noticed when any NPC says the name of an item, it's missing the article before it (example: a, an, the, some). This was removed from e+ since they don't have different articles based on the letters in a word. While it's a minor change, adding it will make the grammar much more solid, and increase playability! This feature should make it out in the October 2018 patch!

Another thing I've been working on is increasing villagers' catchphrase size. In Animal Crossing we were given 10 characters for their catchphrase. In Animal Forest e+, it was reduced to 4 characters. Since the catchphrase is stored in the save file, I can't just change the size to 10. If I did, it would overwrite other important data and confuse the game! I've successfully increased it to 7 characters, but I'm not satisfied unless I can achieve 10 characters and all villagers can regain their English catchphrases. Hopefully this will also be present in the October 2018 patch.

The final non-translation piece I've been working on the past few months is a new start logo and animation! This is a huge task, but I've completed planning and begun asset work for it. It should be present in the November or December 2018 patches!

Now onto what is new in this patch. Since those other features I previously mentioned are not done, this month will only contain translations.

Over 500 newly translated dialogs:

• Villager dialogs where they ask you to buy something of theirs. This should prevent you from accidentally shelling out your entire wallet amount for an office locker.
• Villager event dialogs - These show up when an event is going to happen soon.
• Villager travelling event dialogs - These show up when someone like Saharah or Wendell are in town. The villagers hint that the villager is visiting or will be visiting soon.
• Other villager greetings have been worked on. You may notice that a few are still untranslated. These will be finished in the next few patches
• A few other miscellaneous villager flavor dialogs. Things like hints on how to play the game etc.
• Some missed Tom Nook & Nooklings dialog has been translated.
