We've got books! Art! Art on books!

The print manuscript is ready, finally!  I got the proof copy on Monday and I now have a slightly tweaked version live on Amazon:

So that's nice.  I have a big box of books winging its way towards me to send out to you all, but author copies are slooooow so it won't be here for a couple of weeks.  I'll keep you posted on the progress if they decide to get it here quicker, which they sometimes do.

With that out of the way, I'm turning my focus to the next story, which I'm happy to announce that I received the artwork for - it's in the last attachment above!

I know I keep promising the first chapter of this story, and you will get it, but I've been iterating through a few things in the concept and unfortunately don't have a version that's ready to share right now.  To put Harry's outstanding art into some context, however, the story is titled Peculiar Soul and will follow the journey of a young man named Michael Baumgart as he grapples with the unpleasant reality of the world he lives in: a handful of large nations perpetually at war, caught in the throes of industrialization and burgeoning population growth but forever short of the resource that matters most: souls.

As the population grows by millions each year, the number of souls stays fixed as it always has: three million, six-hundred twenty-eight thousand, eight-hundred.  Some of these are muted, pale things that barely stand out from the teeming masses of the unsouled, while others tremble the earth and steer the fate of nations.  

Despite his father's frustrated and expensive efforts on his behalf, Michael has yet to draw the attention of a soul.  News of yet another battle brings the promise of thousands dead and the tantalizing possibility of snaring one of their newly-available souls - some dull, some bright, and one that is perhaps a bit peculiar.

I'll be plugging away at this one for a while yet, but I'll share the first chapter with y'all as soon as I've got it in a format where I'm reasonably sure there'll be no major changes to the structure.
