2019-09-16 04:39:33 +0000 UTCYes, every time the Bahamas and present-day Nassau was on the news, I thought of this show. (😳) I feel so badly for the victims of that hurricane - just awful! I'm sorry to hear you have the same wildfire concerns as I do - stay safe! 🔥 I can see your point about John Silver, in that his intentions & motivations - particularly regarding the gold and his own personal livelihood - are clear, yet he did flat-out lie to Flint about the gold being gone. I think he's quite the slippery fellow, though I do really enjoy him & his survival instincts. ;-) He's a gift!

One of the things I love about the show is how the writers never carve anything in stone and say "this is exactly what happened". They leave it up to each viewer to decide what they believe to be true. Billy's line about Gates turning his back on Flint and Billy wouldn't make the same mistake could be read two ways at once. The first being that he won't turn on Flint as long as he thinks Flint is best for the crew. But there's also an underlying tone of "Gates literally turned his back on you and let you get the drop on him, don't think it would be that easy with me should our partnership go south".

2019-09-06 17:56:52 +0000 UTCThis was one of the "slower paced", but definitely not slow, epusodes, where quite a lot happens. The character development, the shifting intrigue, all showing just how well written Black Sales is. While some episodes are full of great violence and epic battles, there are others of thoughful plot development and gentle reveals like this one. I actually feel John Silver is, strangely, the most honest character in the show. His motivations and intent have always been clear, while that can't be said for almost everyone else (even Billy, to an extent!). Off topic, I do hope you stay safe with wildfires nearby. Here in Aus we've currently got bushfires raging in Queensland and NSW already (it's only the first week of Spring, for God's sake!). And with hurricane Dorian over there off your east coast, spare a thought for present day Nassau and the Bahamas.
