A little of that might be due to the similar ending it has to the previous series episode βHideβ. Remember, that creature also had a lost love. Both episodes were good though and I do enjoy the execution of it all as the layers of recollected details are slowly revealed. But the story also allows for additional solidifying of the character and personality for this still new Doctor. If you can first get over how big of an ass he can be at times, you see that his motives are still to achieve the best results for all and that his lack of tact, perceived indifference, or just lousy bedside manner still makes him distinctive and unique. I like him but he doesnβt make it easy.
