2020-10-04 21:07:53 +0000 UTCI don't have anything to say about that award-worthy speech and performance by the phenomenal Peter Capaldi that hasn't already been said, but I will make a comment on those emotional lines about Clara. The most exceptional thing about series 9 to me is not just the deepening of the bond between 12 and Clara, but 12's openness about his feelings about her, both through his words and through his expressions too. There's a quote from Moffat about 12's jabs at Clara's physical appearance in series 8. Paraphrasing, he said it was 12's way of subconsciously persuading himself that she is not in fact drop dead beautiful and gorgeous as she really is lol. I bring that up because we've come along way from that (hilarious) dynamic and dialogue to "I let Clara Oswald into my head. Trust me she doesn't leave." And "Longest month of my life. I'll be the judge of time." He is not even trying to hide (from himself or Clara or others) how attached he is to her, how important she is to him. Now that's character development. There's a bit of a joke among us Whouffaldi fans that the Doctor's catchphrases are "Fantastic," "Allons-y," "Geronimo" and "Clara, Clara, Clara" LOL.
