Such a fascinating episode, and you're right, that point about Amy still choosing the Doctor's world is quite telling. I really loved this one.

2019-12-06 07:26:52 +0000 UTCDid you recognise Toby Jones (The Dream Lord) not only is he Arnim Zola in the Cpt America movies, but he was also in Sherlock S3E2 (but with some nasty fake teeth). I really enjoy this one, I think its somtimes overlooked next to big 'plot' episodes, but a lot of really nice character work happens on the move through an interesting concept episode.

2019-11-27 10:33:18 +0000 UTCThis episode was such a great exploration of the Doctor's dark side. it revealed quite a lot of his insecurities and self loathing in a very creative way. The Doctor is normally so cagey and keeps all of that baggage hidden and locked away. So it was brilliant to see him confronted by it all in such a brutal way, face to face. It must've been killing him inside to be taunted by the personification of his dark side throughout the episode. It created such a fascinating dynamic between the Dreamlord and the Doctor, fantastic stuff. I also love the development Amy and Rory's relationship gets this episode. Amy choosing to die was handled really well and I don't think both worlds ending up being fake undermined or took way from the weight of her decision. However, Amy may have finally discovered her true feelings for Rory, but she was still forced into the position of giving up her domestic life with him and choosing the Doctor's world instead, as so many of the Doctor's companions have chosen to do so also. That look the Dreamlord flashed the Doctor right before Amy was about to crash the van is so telling. It's like he's saying I/we still got what we wanted didn't we? Such clever writing! A really good and underrated episode. I'm looking forward to rest of the series' reactions, some absolute classics are coming up!
