Oh, that's so funny - I'm going to have to go back and watch that now! :-)

2020-03-12 07:34:48 +0000 UTCI thought this was a huge improvement over the last story. I liked the scenes with Jack, Gwen and Estelle. It's interesting to delve into Fairy mythology in this story. I thought they were very threatening as villains here (although would have been better if they kept them more hidden). I agree that it has potential to be explored more in the Who world. I also agree that the music was really good in this episode. Regarding your query about the fairies trashing Gwen's house. I predict they did that to warn Torchwood not to mess with their agenda. I too was confused about why they targeted her specifically. But I presume it's a warning to not interfere. They never explained why they killed Estelle and the stepfather but presumably it's because of what they perceive as wrongdoings (Estelle taking photos and the stepdad building the fence/hitting Jazz) which would make sense especially with the peadophile. I also agree with you about the resolution feeling rushed. It's like they didn't get time to properly pace the second half of the episode which makes the ending feel too frantic. But I like the resolution of Torchwood losing and failing to save the child. Really makes the fairies more of a threat. It's good to get more of Jack's past and I liked Gwen's curious and inquisitive nature in this episode. Fun fact. The actress who plays Jazz previously appeared in Series 2 of Doctor Who in The Idiot's Lantern episode. If you remember or rewatch, you will notice her sitting on the sofa in the Connoly household where the family watch the Coronation right before the Wire sucked their faces from the TV screen.

It made me wonder how some of those alien and/or high tech things could have been used against something so ancient and Earthbound. I hope they revisit the fairies at some point. It was a really good story.
