Just a great story this one from the master of the early Dalek stories Terence Dicks (he also wrote many of the novel adaptations of the early episodes in the TARGET series of books, which as the BBC never repeated old Who, as a kid growing up in the early 70's they were my only means of getting these 1st and 2nd Doctor stories, so like most of this and 2nd Doctor era I read them before I ever saw them- that had to await the advent of VHS in the 80's). The robomen will have many iterations down through the years, depending which stories you watch going on through classic you may see them again, but in general they become more sophisiticated and more developed technology, less and less zombie like, and in fact you have seen them in modern Who in their latest incarnation in episodes like Asylum of the Daleks; the humans with the Dalek eye stalk that erupts from their foreheads.

2021-08-30 22:55:06 +0000 UTCThe Robomen were created because the production team only had four working Daleks, and they needed more of a threat but lacked the budget to construct more :( Similarly,the scenes of Barbara running through a London wasteland of the future were actually filmed in an old subway station just across the road from BBC Television Center!
