Very true about the difference between SHIELD and Hydra. I agree that it was a super aggressive move from Yo-Yo, though I think that even though she's been through SHIELD training, she always remembers her fight before she was an agent; she always talks about how much more tough and ruthless she had to be. Maybe the old Yo-Yo surfaced!

2021-09-07 09:03:29 +0000 UTCI know! That’s why I said first and foremost, because capture is their first goal unlike hydra lol and that killing seems more plausible now that their missions keep reaching higher stakes. I agree. Daisy’s major flaw when it comes to this is always seeing these powered people like how she was in season 2 and thinking they could be great with a little grace that she was never really afforded in the beginning. But strucker had a gun in there and I feel like she could have easily just shot her, but she used the weapon that was used on her. I guess they’re all too traumatized to think straight and actually have no idea what the end of the world scene was, but it was always weird to me that yo-yo truly thought she was saving the world by solely killing ruby when her future self literally said trying to save Coulson was what led to it and this ruby scene had nothing to do with that. And May telling yoyo it’s being handled because she doesn’t want her to see ruby to me shows that even May knew her anger about what she did to her might take over. I believe ruby was past saving as well, but I think they made yo-yo do overkill to show that it was a little about her arms being cut off, but also about knowing she was too far gone and Daisy just doesn’t like to give up on young powered people because of her own past lol

2021-09-03 13:29:10 +0000 UTCNow here is where i disagree. Yoyo did not do it out of revenge she did it implusively because she thought ruby was going to go off and destroy the world. Daisy does not believe that. Daisy believes it was out of revenge and that is the disconnect. Daisy sees ruby in herself and could not see that she was past saving. Ruby liked hurting people and bragged about cutting yoyo arms off. Gravity powers and voices in your head are not the same as what daisy went through but daisy believed it was. Killing is never the first option is what the writers are saying not that it is never a option. Shield has killled many times. This season is about hard choices being made. At what point is it too late to save them?

2021-09-03 12:31:08 +0000 UTCFor me Alex was the shocking death this episode, especially how he died. I think I was biased against Ruby due to her young age, so I never expected her to succeed. Or I was biased against Ruby for chopping off yo-yo's arms. Either way, I wasn't upset when she died. I agree with you, Hale is the more interesting character of the two.

2021-09-03 11:56:51 +0000 UTCI don’t think anyone was ever really that upset that Ruby died lol. I love Dove Cameron as an actress so I enjoyed seeing her on the screen playing a creepy, twisted product of Hale’s hydra, but I also assumed she would die at some point. The way yoyo killed her seemed a little out of character for me, like way too aggressive, which is why I think in her mind at the moment, she was more focused on revenge than “saving the world” and I think Daisy knew that and was so angry with her about it. Because as much as we’d like for these bad guys that torture our agents to be killed swiftly, that’s not what SHIELD is about. They are capture not kill, first and foremost. It’s the main thing viewers forget yet the writers have spent every season reaffirming that’s what they live by. Hydra ward said it in season two. While shield decides whether or not to pull the trigger, hydra has already done it, and that’s what made them one step ahead of them. Because shield agents have a conscience to exhaust all options before killing. Like a “do no harm” sort of mantra. What makes things so complicated is the ever growing stakes these agents have faced since season 1, making the killing option more plausible and everything else seem like a waste of time. Also why we’ve seen our sweet agents like fitzsimmons harden up so much and so quickly over the past 5 seasons. Even Mack has hardened a little but his strong faith has always kept him more grounded in non-violence than the rest of the group lol.
